The Monsignor Pace Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They snuck past Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart with a 65-59 victory. With that victory, Monsignor Pace brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monsignor Pace to victory, but perhaps none more so than Catherine Guillaume, who scored 28 points along with two steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guillaume has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessandra Bonilla, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alissa Azcuy, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and two steals. Azcuy hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Kaira Borges was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monsignor Pace only posted ten assists.
The victory (which was Monsignor Pace's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monsignor Pace won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Schoolhouse Prep at 7:00 a.m. on January 12th. Schoolhouse Prep is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, they will be playing at home against St. Brendan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Brendan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is ranked 111th).
