Caldera will take on the Mountain View Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountain View will be up against a hot Caldera team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 13. Caldera was the clear victor by a 23-2 margin over Crook County on Wednesday. Caldera's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brooke Chapin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Elle Morton was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Makenzie Guerin was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Caldera kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Redmond on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
Janelle Guiney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cadence Kennedy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallie Eckman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Caldera, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Caldera has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Caldera skirted past Mountain View 7-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Does Caldera have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
