South Florence is a perfect 10-0 against Wilson since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bruins will welcome the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. South Florence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Wilson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
South Florence barely beat Darlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bruins never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Payton Perry's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Rylie Rowsey and Blakely Blue did most of the damage at the plate: Rowsey scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Blue scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Rowsey's first of the season.
South Florence hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Darlington struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Wilson's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 15-7 to Hartsville.
Zoey Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. Madison Moses was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
South Florence's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Wilson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Florence has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Wilson struggles in that department as they've averaged .547. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went South Florence's way against Wilson when the teams last played back in March, as South Florence made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
