The Polson Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. Their tough 61-41 loss to Columbia Falls might stick with them for a while. Polson has not had much luck with Columbia Falls recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Polson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Lichtenberg, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Henriksen, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Polson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their seventh loss (out of eight games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Polson dropped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Columbia Falls, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.
Polson will be playing at home against Libby on Tuesday. Libby is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Columbia Falls, they will head out on the road to take on Bigfork at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
