Baseball Recap: Emporia Has No Trouble Against Iola

Emporia barely beat Iola the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Mustangs on Friday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Emporia and bumps their season record up to 10-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Iola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season.

Emporia will square off against Spring Hill on Friday. As for Iola, they will head out on the road to square off against Wellsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
