Hudson is 0-7 against Pasco since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Hudson Cobras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pasco Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Hudson has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Hudson lost 22-7 to Central on Wednesday. The Cobras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hudson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Gillespie, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Gillespie a new career-high in RBI (two). Owen Wilson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pasco). They never let Gulf get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won five in a row.
Bryce Mangiaracina was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mangiaracina was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Boomer Newton and Jayce Rollins did most of the damage at the plate: Newton scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Rollins scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Yeceil 'JJ' Lisojo was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Pasco always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pasco's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Hudson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Hudson's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. Hudson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pasco, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hudson continue to outrun the ball?
Hudson might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Pasco when the teams last played back in February. Will Hudson have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
