There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Part of the action? A towering 101-point combined score for Millwood and Lexington.
Can't Touch This
Jones got a 55 - 6 win over Holdenville last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Korbin Cox. Cox earned three touchdowns and 200 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Cox one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Broken Arrow (1st in the power rankings) and Edmond Santa Fe (12th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Broken Arrow had all the answers against Edmond Santa Fe, winning 35 - 7. Edmond Santa Fe had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 11 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Broken Arrow.
No Stoppin 'Em
101. That was the combined point total for Lexington and Millwood when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. Millwood picked up a decisive 'W' against Lexington, finishing up at 80 - 21. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Millwood actually slipped five places in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Midwest City (16th in the power rankings) and Del City (11th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
