The Hillcrest Jaguars can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They blew past Straughn 66-33 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-9.
It was another big night for Robert Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. J.T. Barlow was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Hillcrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Straughn, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will take on Shields at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shields will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Hillcrest is ranked 75th). Straughn won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Georgiana at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Georgiana knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Straughn likes a good challenge.
