West Side couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by Arts 71-35 on Thursday. West Side has not had much luck with Arts recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Central didn't have too much trouble with Academy Charter at home on Saturday as they won 59-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Central.
West Side's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Central, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
West Side skirted past Central 55-52 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Central's Hazir Lee, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
