The Wheeler Eagles will challenge the Thrasher Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Thrasher took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wheeler, who comes in off a win.
Wheeler came out on top against Pine Grove on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Eagles took their game against the Panthers 6-3. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Marli Kate Shockley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Brooks, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Williams, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Falkner hit Thrasher with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Delancy Sartain and Valerie Hester stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sartain went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Hester went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Sartain is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Keyona Hutcheson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Thrasher now has a losing record of 3-4-1. As for Wheeler, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Everything went Wheeler's way against Thrasher when the teams last played on March 3rd, as Wheeler made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
