After a string of four wins, the Albuquerque Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 49-36 to Cleveland. Albuquerque lost against Cleveland in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 45-44 score last time.
Maliyah Lee and Amariah Valles certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Lee scored ten points along with six steals, while Valles scored 11 points along with five steals. Lee hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kaelynn Ashley, who scored eight points.
Albuquerque struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Albuquerque's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Cleveland, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Albuquerque won't have much time to rest: their next game is against West Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (West Mesa is ranked 41st, while Albuquerque is ranked 24th). As for Cleveland, they will head out on the road to face off against Hobbs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hobbs will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
