Cunningham is 7-2 against Macksville since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cunningham Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Macksville Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Cunningham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Macksville is ranked 86th).
On Friday, Cunningham suffered a tough 45-24 defeat at the hands of Classical. Cunningham has not had much luck with Classical recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Macksville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Stafford 73-28 at home. That looming 73-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Macksville yet this season.
Macksville can attribute much of their success to Isabela Ortiz, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, and Mayce Russell, who scored 19 points along with seven steals. Ortiz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Logan Sanders was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Cunningham has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Macksville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Cunningham took a serious blow against Macksville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 70-24. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cunningham was down 49-15.
