Gallatin is 1-8 against Belgrade since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Raptors will head out to square off against the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. Gallatin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Gallatin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Skyview, who was ranked 25th at the time (Gallatin was ranked 12th). The Raptors walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Falcons on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Raptors in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
Madison Coleman was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Coon, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Belgrade entered their tilt with Russell on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Rustlers.
Not much got past Olivia Mills, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Russell off the board. Mills has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Belgrade's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bailee White, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Gallatin's record now sits at 10-4. As for Belgrade, their record is now 10-4-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Gallatin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Belgrade struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gallatin was able to grind out a solid win over Belgrade in their previous matchup back in April, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raptors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
