After three games on the road, Chanute is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Labette County Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chanute will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Labette County is ranked 73rd).
Last Friday, Chanute suffered a rough 62-39 loss at the hands of Fort Scott. Chanute has struggled against Fort Scott recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Labette County came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 62-42 margin over Parsons. Labette County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Among those leading the charge was Nevaeh Jones, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Landry Obrien was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Chanute bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Labette County, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Chanute couldn't quite finish off Labette County in their previous matchup back in February and fell 36-34. Can Chanute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
