Rickards has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Gadsden County Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rickards knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Gadsden County likes a good challenge.
Rickards pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Florida State University High School. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rickards came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Florida State University High School is ranked 110th).
Despite the loss, Rickards got a solid performance out of Randall Pompey, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Romie Cosby, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Gadsden County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Thursday as they fell 51-45 to St. John Paul II.
Rickards' record is now 5-1. Gadsden County's record now sits at 3-2.
Rickards couldn't quite finish off Gadsden County when the teams last played back in February and fell 45-42. Can Rickards avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
