St. Francis is 7-0 against St. Paul since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The St. Francis Golden Knights will head out on the road to face off against the St. Paul Swordsmen at 7:00 p.m. St. Francis is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, St. Francis strolled past Crespi with points to spare, taking the game 42-27. Given St. Francis' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Crespi is ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
John Sanders was his usual excellent self, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. John Calmette also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, St. Paul came up short against Cathedral on Friday and fell 28-21.
Christian Melendez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown.
St. Francis' victory bumped their season record to 8-1 while St. Paul's loss dropped theirs to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for St. Francis against St. Paul in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
