The Spanish River Sharks will venture away from home to challenge the Dwyer Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Spanish River was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over Coral Springs Charter. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sharks considering their one-run performance the match before.
Dylan Werblow looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since March 4th.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Shane Price, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Spanish River is undefeated when Price posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Dylan Brown was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Spanish River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Dwyer had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Eagles. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.
Dwyer let Max Abrams and Colten Stephens run wild. Abrams scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Stephens scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Stephens has posted since back in February. Trenton Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Spanish River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Dwyer's record is now 9-6.
Spanish River might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Dwyer in their previous meeting back in April of 2016. Can Spanish River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
