The Monessen Greyhounds will challenge the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Monessen sitting on three straight victories and Carmichaels on seven.
On Thursday, Monessen made easy work of Woodland Hills and carried off a 12-1 win.
Joey Hurst was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hurst was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Clingenpeel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Mackey, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carmichaels). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Avella an 18-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Mighty Mikes have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Monessen, Carmichaels also got a great game from a two-way player: Bailey Barnyak. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Barnyak has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Carys McConnell was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Payton Plavi was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Carmichaels was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avella only posted a batting average of .273.
Carmichaels' victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Monessen, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
Monessen might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Carmichaels when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Will the Greyhounds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
