Cuyahoga Heights is 8-0-1 against Lutheran West since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Red Wolves will host the Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cuyahoga Heights' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Trinity. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Skylar Sane made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Sane was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Cuyahoga Heights let Sophia Meklemburg and Giada Presot run wild. Meklemburg went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Presot went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was Meklemburg's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Stoltz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Cuyahoga Heights hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Lutheran West waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 20-5 win. That looming 20-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Longhorns yet this season.
Kailyn Caster was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with seven RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Peyton Steinbrenner was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Cuyahoga Heights' victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Lutheran West, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Cuyahoga Heights beat Lutheran West 5-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Red Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
