The Gillespie Miners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 70-52 to Litchfield. While losing is never fun, Gillespie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 686th, while Litchfield is ranked 330th).
Litchfield was led to victory by Tate Dobrinich and Keenan Powell. Dobrinich scored 12 points, while Powell scored 19 points. The contest was Dobrinich's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Mcgill, who scored six points.
Gillespie has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Litchfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Calhoun the next time they take the court. Litchfield will head out to face Calhoun at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Gillespie will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
