Make it seven blowout wins for the Warrensburg Burgers this season. They claimed a resounding 84-51 win over Fort Ann on the road. Given Warrensburg's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Fort Ann is ranked 779th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Steve Schloss was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 36 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Brady Cheney was another key contributor, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 2 assists.
Fort Ann's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kadynce Cutter, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Cutter is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javier Hernandez, who scored 13 points.
Warrensburg is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Fort Ann, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Warrensburg will look to defend their home court on Friday against Whitehall at 7:00 p.m. As for Fort Ann, they will head out on the road to take on Granville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Granville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday.
