The Freeport Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Bozeman Bucks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Freeport's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Vernon. The game marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.
Kaylee Carroll made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Carroll was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Kayla Stephens was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Corissa Duggar, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Freeport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vernon only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Bozeman got the win against Vernon on Wednesday by a conclusive 16-1. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.
Bozeman let Kinsey Bruhmuller and Karlee McLean run wild. Bruhmuller scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while McLean scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Presley Thomason was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Bozeman has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Freeport, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freeport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Bozeman struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Freeport couldn't quite get it done against Bozeman when the teams last played back in February as they fell 9-6. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
