Given Riverview Sarasota's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Riverdale is ranked 432nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverview Sarasota's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Dawson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Jayden Dudash was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Riverdale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Konnor Vonhagen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Vonhagen hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamar Underwood, who scored 17 points.
Riverview Sarasota is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Riverdale, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Riverview Sarasota will be playing in front of their home fans against Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverdale's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ida Baker at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Ida Baker is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
