Basketball Recap: Xavier James Key Part of a Team Effort in Trojans Win

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler posted their biggest win since February 2nd on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wagener-Salley War Eagles as the Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans made off with a 62-42 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the War Eagles are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier James, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. James is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Amen Darby was another key player, putting up 15 points and six rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Wagener-Salley, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-45 victory against Allendale-Fairfax on the 19th. As for Wagener-Salley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-30 loss against Pelion on the 18th.
