The Orem Tigers entered their tilt with the Spanish Fork Dons with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Orem blew past Spanish Fork 72-47. Given Orem's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Spanish Fork is ranked 87th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chance Dastrup was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-8 from long range and dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tate Robinson, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Spanish Fork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Dunn. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Dunn posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Beckstead, who scored 11 points.
Orem's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Spanish Fork, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orem will challenge Salem Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last five contests. As for Spanish Fork, they will head out on the road to take on Maple Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Maple Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
