Atkins is 0-5 against Dudley since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Atkins Camels will be home for the holidays to greet the Dudley Panthers at 8:00 p.m. Atkins comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, Atkins suffered a tough 77-53 loss at the hands of Ben L. Smith. While losing is never fun, Atkins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Ben L. Smith is ranked 62nd).
Daijon Lindsay put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Roope, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, everything went Dudley's way against High Point Central on Tuesday as Dudley made off with a 72-51 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dudley.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dudley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Rogers, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. LiShawn Speller was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Atkins' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Dudley, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Atkins lost to Dudley at home by a decisive 64-49 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Atkins, Tre McNeil (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
