It was a good run, but The Statesville Greyhounds unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 30-14 bruising from Hickory. While losing is never fun, Statesville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Hickory is ranked 31st).
Hickory's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amare Clark, who rushed for 97 yards. Clark really tore up the turf during one magnificent 88-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Stober, who threw for 214 yards and a touchdown.
Statesville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Hickory, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Statesville will take on South Point at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hickory, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Huss at 7:30 p.m.
