Olive Branch is 0-5 against South Panola since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Olive Branch Conquistadors will be playing at home against the South Panola Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Olive Branch: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while South Panola has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
Olive Branch's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 21-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saltillo.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ethan Bobo, who threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Jay Wells was another key contributor, picking up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Olive Branch's defense sure didn't make it easy: Saltillo's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Terance Hall Jr and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, South Panola stacked a third blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Lake Cormorant 33-7. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as South Panola just coasted through the last quarter.
Saltillo's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Olive Branch's defeat dropped theirs to 2-6.
Olive Branch might still be hurting after the 34-14 loss they got from South Panola in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can Olive Branch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
