Foothills Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Tri-City Christian Eagles. Considering the Knights have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jr Merino and Johannes Jansen Granillo made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Merino tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jansen Granillo pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Merino has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Merino went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Jansen Granillo got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave Merino a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Morgan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Foothills Christian: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-11 otherwise. Jonah Nottoli also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Foothills Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.2.

Foothills Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Tri-City Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Foothills Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
