The Claiborne Academy Rebels will square off against the Tensas Academy Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Claiborne Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Tensas Academy likes a good challenge.
Claiborne Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: DeSoto, who was ranked tenth in their home state at the time (Claiborne Academy was ranked fourth). The Rebels put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 36-12 win on Friday. Give the Rebels' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Kyler Monk, who rushed for 76 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries, and also threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes. He is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Buckner, who rushed for 58 yards and one score.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tensas Academy). They managed a 36-30 victory over Riverdale Academy on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Chiefs considering their six-point performance the game before.
Claiborne Academy better keep an eye on Tobie Matthews. He was instrumental in Tensas Academy's win, rushing for 198 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries, while also picking up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Tensas Academy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Riverdale Academy to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Chiefs weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 18.2%.
Tensas Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Drake Wallace and Carter Lardy.
Claiborne Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.5 points on average over those games. As for Tensas Academy, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Claiborne Academy against Tensas Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 68-18 victory. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
