Washington County is 10-0 against Gates County since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Washington County Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gates County Red Barons at 7:30 p.m. Washington County will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Washington County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North East Carolina Prep 92-37 at home. Washington County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 37 points or more this season.
Brandon Carter Jr. was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-6 from long range and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Carter Jr. is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Chesson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Gates County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 73-33 loss at the hands of Martin County.
Washington County's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Gates County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Washington County against Gates County in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 75-38 victory. With Washington County ahead 42-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
