Softball Recap: Sheldon Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Sheldon had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the South Salem Saxons. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Irish's hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Soraya Dorsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dorsey was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Sheldon let Ella Alfano and Braelyn Stone run wild. Alfano got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Stone got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Those two runs gave Alfano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aspen Womack, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Sheldon's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for South Salem, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheldon will challenge South Eugene at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Irish are facing the Axe at the right time seeing as the Axe are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for South Salem, they will square off against West Salem at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
