It was a good run, but the Loch Raven Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Milford Mill Academy by a score of 46-43. Loch Raven was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Milford Mill Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Loch Raven lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maya Gordon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Meona Boykin, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Loch Raven were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Loch Raven's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Milford Mill Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Loch Raven will be playing at home against Woodlawn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodlawn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Loch Raven is ranked 47th). As for Milford Mill Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Parkville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
