Basketball Recap: D?Yanna Hurn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River Forest over Hammond Bishop Noll

River Forest lost against Hammond Bishop Noll back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The River Forest Ingots fell 53-43 to the Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors. The Ingots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

River Forest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being D?Yanna Hurn, who posted seven points in addition to 13 boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Hurn is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Amy Arana, who put up two points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, River Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Hammond Bishop Noll's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ecrin Mart led the charge by going 7 of 16 on her way to 15 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Hamer, who posted 12 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

River Forest now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bowman Academy the next time they take the court. Hammond Bishop Noll will head out to face Bowman Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, while River Forest will play them later in the day, at 9:30 a.m.
