Baseball Recap: Spruce Wins Going Away Against Samuell

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Spruce and Samuell, and Spruce kept the tradition alive. The Timberwolves were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Spartans on Friday. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Johnathan Rodriguez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Ortiz, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Spruce has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Samuell, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Spruce will face off against rival Poteet at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Samuell is set to challenge their familiar foe Seagoville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
