Baseball Recap: North Sanpete Wins Going Away Against Carbon

North Sanpete hadn't done well against Carbon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The North Sanpete Hawks blew past the Carbon Dinos 8-0. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hudson Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has become a key player for North Sanpete: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 1-3 otherwise. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Chaetton Osborne also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

North Sanpete has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Carbon's loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Sanpete will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Carbon at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carbon, they will welcome Salem Hills at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Salem Hills has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something Carbon will no doubt try to take advantage of.
