Softball Recap: Tooele Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cottonwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tooele). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cottonwood Colts a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Buffaloes haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Jaelyn Woods looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Dakota-Sky Gallaher and Hunter Culley did most of the damage at the plate: Gallaher went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Culley got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Kaedence Sheffield also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Tooele always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Tooele's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Cottonwood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
