Mater Dei has gone a perfect 5-0 against Gibault Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mater Dei is returning to their home field after beating Flora on theirs, despite the fact Flora has dominated at home this season. The Knights walked away with a 10-5 win over the Wolves on Saturday.

Maddy Huels and Emma Diekemper did most of the damage at the plate: Huels went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Diekemper went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Huels a new career-high. Lynn Shirley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
Meanwhile, Gibault Catholic won against East St. Louis on Monday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Hawks never let Cahokia get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Comanches: they've now won four in a row.
Gibault Catholic got a massive performance out of Claire Kessler, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Jerkatis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Gibault Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Gibault Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Mater Dei, the win got them back to even at 7-7-1.
Gibault Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mater Dei has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Gibault Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Mater Dei's sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mater Dei took their victory against Gibault Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
