Our Lady of Good Counsel extended the longest winning streak in Washington Catholic this week by beating DeMatha, 13-10. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Bishop McNamara was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after losing to Bullis. The Mustangs came in at 6 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
The Stags' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Lovett threw for 238 and one touchdown and Chris Jones had 96 yards receiving. On the ground Mark Allen chipped in 72 yards. Cam Phillips helped DeMatha's passing attack out by catching six balls for 74 yards.
Our Lady of Good Counsel's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brendan Marshall has thrown for 773 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Kendall Fuller has 23 catches for 399 yards. Dorian O'Daniel leads the league in rushing with 621 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Our Lady of Good Counsel and Bishop McNamara. Bob Milloy's team enters the game ranked first in the state, while Bryce Bevill's team ranks sixth.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when the Falcons and the Mustangs meet this week. Our Lady of Good Counsel features well-regarded senior Fuller while Bishop McNamara has Damian Prince, a sought after junior.
Bishop O'Connell suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after falling to St. John's. The Knights had been ranked eighth, but fell to 99 following the defeat.
