Canyon Crest Academy has gone 6-1 against Ramona recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ravens will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m.
Friday just wasn't the day for Canyon Crest Academy's offense. They lost 10-0 to Valley Center on Friday. The Ravens' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Canyon Crest Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Ramona came out on top against Escondido on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run seventh inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Cougars 19-4. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Cougars on their field since March 27, 2019.
Justin Jarrett made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ramona got a massive performance out of Zack Nightingale, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. Those four hits gave Nightingale a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Taylor, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Ramona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .578. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Ramona is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12-1.
Canyon Crest Academy took their victory against Ramona in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Ravens repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
