The Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 28-9 win over Beaufort Academy on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Colleton Prep Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxen Porter, who rushed for 201 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Dietrich Shuford was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards on only nine carries.
Colleton Prep Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Cross Episcopal and 4-5 Greenwood Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.6% over those games). As for Beaufort Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Colleton Prep Academy will head out on the road to face off against Palmetto Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Beaufort Academy, they will be playing at home against Bethesda Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bethesda Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
