Pullman is 0-6 against Deer Park since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Greyhounds will host the Stags at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Deer Park will be up against a hot Pullman squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Greyhounds' way against West Valley on Saturday as they made off with a 15-7 victory.
Kinsey Rees spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Juliana Stewart was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylore Wolfe, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Pullman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Deer Park never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on West Valley with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Stags in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
Hailey Thompson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Thompson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Reiter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Meyers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Deer Park's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pullman, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both Pullman and Deer Park just can't seem to miss. The Greyhounds have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Deer Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pullman suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Deer Park in their previous matchup on April 1st. Will the Greyhounds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
