Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Piedmont Academy). They put the hurt on the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers with a sharp 23-2 win on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Peyton Whitfield was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Whitfield was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Piedmont Academy got a massive performance out of Kolbee Osborne, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Osborne a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Ellen Stroud, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
Piedmont Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount de Sales Academy only managed two hits.
Piedmont Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
