Dunedin is 1-6 against Osceola since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Dunedin Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Dunedin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Dunedin fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Northeast on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-3. The loss was the Falcons' first of the season.
Maelaea Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Roseman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Osceola put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Hollins 11-2. Considering the Warriors have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Bri Shephard, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Mia Maurer also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Osceola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Osceola's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dunedin, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Dunedin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Dunedin suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Osceola in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Dunedin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
