Baseball Recap: Union City Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Union City won against Verden last Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Union City never let Timberlake get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering Union City has won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jake Faerber made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Cayden Walker and Josh Putnam did most of the damage at the plate: Walker scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Putnam scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave Walker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Union City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timberlake only posted an OBP of .182.

Union City pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Timberlake, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Union City has already played their next game (against Garber), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Timberlake, they will head out on the road to challenge Tonkawa at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
