The Ponderosa Mustangs lost against the ThunderRidge Grizzlies back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Ponderosa had to suffer through a rough 63-28 loss at the hands of the Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, Ponderosa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 28th).
When it comes to explaining why Ponderosa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maddison Neale. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with four steals.
Ben Kayser-cochran had an outrageously good game for ThunderRidge as she scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Kayser-cochran has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Baker, who scored 15 points.
Ponderosa has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for ThunderRidge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Ponderosa will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for ThunderRidge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Castle View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
