The Dixie Flyers came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 71-60 win over Crimson Cliffs. Given Dixie's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Crimson Cliffs is ranked 30th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Lemke, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Weidauer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Crimson Cliffs still got an impressive performance from Sean Felts, who scored 25 points along with six assists and two blocks. That was a full 41.7% of Crimson Cliffs' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Taylor, who scored eight points along with six assists and four blocks.
Dixie pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Crimson Cliffs, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Dixie will head out on the road to challenge Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hurricane has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Crimson Cliffs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
