Delano (Calif.) saw its 15-point lead dwindle to nine, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Washington Union (Fresno, Calif.) 22-13 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Jesus Teran in the second quarter, the Tigers led 22-7 at the half.
Delano saw its 15-point halftime lead fall to nine entering the fourth.
Landon Barberich played well for the Panthers. He threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Teran was the top performer for DHS. He ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
The Tigers came in allowing an average of 25.3 points per game this season. Delano held firm on the defensive front, and kept Washington Union well below the 25.5 points it had been averaging per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for DHS, which lost to Mission Oak last week, 31-0. The defeat comes as a step back for Washington Union, which notched a 45-14 victory over Kerman in its previous outing. The loss snapped WU's 3-game winning streak.
