Jacobs is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Cary-Grove a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Jacobs Golden Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Cary-Grove Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Jacobs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
While Jacobs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-29), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Palatine with a sharp 14-6 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Skylee Ferrante made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Jacobs got a massive performance out of Molly Hoch, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Olivia Fillipp, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Jacobs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Cary-Grove and Wauconda had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Trojans came up short against the Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 16-9.
Aubrey Longergan and Megan Koski stepped up to the plate in a big way. Longergan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Koski went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI were Koski's first of the season. Paityn Ahlquist was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Jacobs' victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cary-Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Jacobs was able to grind out a solid win over Cary-Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 14-11. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
