Kearny Christian Academy were the 70-53 winner over the Harmony Christian Hawks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Kearny Christian Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 53-52 to Harmony Christian.
Kearny Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Manzo, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Garcia, who scored 13 points.
Harmony Christian was led to victory by Edric Boateng and Benjamin Minton. Boateng dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals, while Minton dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Minton has scored at least a third of Harmony Christian's points. Jay Seward was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Kearny Christian Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Harmony Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
Kearny Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on American Christian School at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Harmony Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Abundant Life Academy at 5:30 p.m. Abundant Life Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
